Perth Expert Bookkeeper Xero

2024-2025 Year In Review

Reflections from Shipshape Bookkeeping

As the financial year draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on just how far things have come—not only in the books, but in the business itself.

When I kicked off July 2024, I had just one regular client. Fast forward to June 2025, and I’m proud (and slightly amazed) to say I’ve signed six ongoing clients. It’s been a massive year of growth, both personally and professionally, and I’m incredibly grateful for the small business owners across Perth who’ve trusted me with their numbers.

A Fresh Look for Shipshape

This year also gave me the privilege of investing back into my business. I designed a new logo for Shipshape Bookkeeping, one that reflects the clarity, guidance, and support I aim to provide. The lighthouse symbol captures that perfectly. I also had my very first branding photoshoot and it felt good to show the face behind the spreadsheets.

Building Better Workflows

With growth comes the need for structure, so I’ve been putting serious effort into backend workflows, especially using Asana to manage recurring tasks, client deliverables, and compliance deadlines. These systems are still evolving, but they’ve already helped me deliver work more efficiently and stay focused on what matters most: my clients.

I plan to dive even deeper into refining these workflows in 2025–2026, making sure each new client onboarding and monthly cycle runs like a well-oiled machine.

Supporting Perth Small Businesses

From reconciling bank feeds in Xero, to setting up Hubdoc, processing payroll, and lodging BAS, this year reaffirmed that bookkeeping isn’t just about compliance. It’s about helping small business owners feel confident, supported, and in control of their numbers.

Some of the wins this year included:

  • Moving a client from manual super payments to automated super in Xero
  • Securing a bulk MYOB discount that saved thousands in subscription fees
  • Helping a new business owner transition fully into Xero from Billdu for better visibility and control

Whether it’s handling payroll, keeping up with business tax obligations, or simply making the finances feel less overwhelming, I’ve been right there alongside clients every step of the way.

Looking Ahead

As we roll into a new financial year, I’m feeling excited and ready. I’ll be taking a short break in August to recharge (and sneak in a little inspiration from Europe), but I’m coming back with even more drive to serve the Perth business community.

If you’re a business owner looking for a bookkeeper who brings clarity, confidence, and a human touch, you know where to find me.

Here’s to another year of helping small businesses feel more in control of their finances ✨
